While in AZI reallly wanted to make the drive down to Tucson to see my Grandma Joann. My Grandpa Luebke (my Mom's Dad) passed away 5 years ago and I have only seen her once since then. Casen was just a baby and Marlee wasn't even born! It is hard to make the trip down there when we are in Gilbert and already traveling, usually on a time crunch, etc.
BUT we finally made it happen and I was so glad. 2.5 hr drive with 5 kids (my two little sisters came too). It was so fun to be back at their house, so many great memories there. I always loved their gumball machine and all their little dogs.
My Grandma Joann (my "step" Grandma, but she's always been my grandma to me) had cancer in her right eye and had it removed years ago. Unfortunately with issues she has had and aging her eye is all sunken in and pretty sad looking. I forgot to warn my children and was nervous the second she walked up, not knowing what they would say or do, or if they would be scared. But they weren't, they instantly loved her and it made me so happy. Marlee had so much fun sitting on her lap and playing with her. Brinley and Casen both loved getting to chat with her and ask questions back and forth
It's been a few months now and the children still talk about our visit. I am so glad we were able to go. I know it mean a lot to Grandma and she really enjoyed the love and attention the kids gave her. She deserved it.
