Early Christmas in Idaho with the NELSONS!

The second weekend in December we got to go up to Idaho to have an early Christmas with the Nelsons. Our trip started off a little rough when Casen jumped off our kitchen bench and cut his head open at 7:50 am. We were in the middle of loading our suitcase in the car to make a 10:30 flight. Needless to say we had a slight detour to the Emergency Room. Fortunately they got us right in and Casen had a staple in his head by 9:00. They had to do it kinda quick, so his head wasn't all the way numb... when he was done he looked at the doctor and said " You hurt my head!" Poor little guy! We knew we wouldn't have time to park in long-term parking and take a shuttle to the airport, so we called our friend Casie. She totally saved us ... she picked us up at the hospital and dropped us at the front of the airport. We made it there just 5 minutes before they stopped checking baggage for our flight! They let us cut to the front of the security line and we made it on the plane just in time... last people to board! We were SO grateful we made the flight, the next flight to Idaho Falls wasn't for 4 days!! A lot of prayers were answered.

The cut... amazing how much a cut on your head can bleed!! This is after it had been cleaned several times. I think people in the airport were wondering what we were doing dragging this poor kid through the airport!

Just waiting. Casen was such a good sport!

SO happy to be in Idaho and be with cousins! Rachel, Casen, Brinley and Rachel.

The grandkids put on the Nativity and Brinley got to be Mary. Yes, they used a doodle bear for baby Jesus.

Brigham pulled "Mary" in on this rocking horse, it was pretty cute :)

Yay! Rapunzel doll #1!

Uncle Travis was so nice and helped Brinley comb her hair :)

The Nelson girls (minus Anna). Becky, Lacey, Becca, Quenalee, and Becca. Thank goodness Lacey was there or it would of been Quenalee and the three Becs!

Showing off their new aprons from Grandma. Brinley, Rachel, Brooklyn

Rapunzel Doll #2 - I think Brinley's exact words were, "What the!?" She was excited, but still wanted to know if Santa would be bringing her a Rapunzel doll :)

Cute gift box from Grandma Q for Baby #3

Casen had so much fun ripping all of his presents open!

Rachel and Brinley showing off their new jammies and beanies from Grandma!

Casen having his "motor-by-seek-oh-low" just all of his cars!

Despite it being FREEZING outside, Casen insisted on riding the 4-wheeler. Brinley decided to join the boys and they had a lot of fun!

Looking cute in her new beanie

We took the kids to the cemetery where Galen was buried. I was glad we got to go. It was December 11th, exactly 3 years since his passing. He was an incredible man and I miss him so much. Still hard to think he is really gone and that my kids won't get to know him in this life. They would have loved him.

Quenalee, Ryan, Casen and Brinley. I love this picture.

Ryan took the kids to play in the snow in the back yard. There wasn't much snow and it was pretty icy, but they still managed to build this mini-snowman.

Grandma Q and the two youngest grandbabies - Straton (9 months) and Casen (2.5 yrs)

Brinley helping make pancakes in her new apron!

We had such a GREAT trip and LOVED getting to spend time with the Nelson gang! Thanks for spoiling us Quenalee!

  2. I'm so glad you made it to Idaho and had a great time!
That is so neat that you were able to visit the cemetery on that day. I think Brinley will "remember" her Grandpa Galen because of the pictures you have of them together.
I love the gift for baby #3!! I'm excited for you to have another girl!
