While Jess and Darcy Whipple watched our kids, we headed to the AFB Hospital at 4:30 am. I was a little nervous, but we loved the nurse and techs who took care of us that day. We also loved having Nate Nye (one of Ryan's good friends from the Air Force ROTC at BYU) be our doctor.
Everything went really well with the labor, I progressed quickly and didn't have to have my pitocin raised above a 4! My pitocin was at about a 24-28 with my other kids. It was a lot less painful with out all that extra pitocin! By the time I was dilated to a "7" I was ready for an epidural. Unfortunately it only took on my right side at first, but I didn't want them to re-do it. Fortunately when it came time to push I was comfortable and ready to go.
I started pushing at about 3:12 pm and little Miss Marlee arrived at 3:19 pm. She was 8 lbs 8 oz and 20.75 inches long. She is absolutely beautiful and we are so grateful for her safe arrival. It is easy to forget just how precious a newborn baby is. They are amazing, the moment is priceless, and they truly are sent straight from heaven.
The "before" shot :)

All 10 toes... and fingers too
This picture really reminds me of Brinley as a newborn!
Because it is RSV season, our kids were not allowed in the Labor and Delivery, or Postpartum section of the hospital. I was VERY sad about this and wanted so bad for them to come in and see her! We tried to still help them experience everything by taking pictures of our room and everything back there, and by letting them see her through the window. They were both very excited even though they could hold her.
Marlee had high biliruben levels and so we had to stay at the hospital an extra day and have her put under the bili lights. She did NOT like it! Talk about a long night! Poor girl just wanted to be held.

The kids were so excited when we came home! We caught it all on video camera :)
First picture of all 3 kids! I sure feel lucky.
First sister picture, I am sure there will be many more to come!

Brinley showing me how excited she is :)
Marlee and Grandma Judy. My Mom stayed with Brinley and Casen while we were in the hospital. I was so grateful to have her here and to have her help. What would I ever do with out my Mom?
Congratulations!! I am so excited for you guys. She is so beautiful! I am glad everything went well. I hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHurray! She is here! She looks so much like Brinley and Casen! I am sure you guys are on cloud 9. Congratulations. And thanks for posting a bit about the labor, I am always nosey and interested in everyone's labor stories :)
ReplyDeleteYay, congrats! I keep looking at a picture and thinking wow, she looks just like Brinley and then I look at the next picture and think wow, she looks just like Casen! She definitely fits into the family. Wish we could be there to meet little Miss Marlee in person!
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful! So much hair! I love it! She really does remind me of Brinley as a newborn and I remember Brinley being one of the most beautiful little newborns I have ever seen. What darling kids you have! 3! So awesome.
