We have never had pets and decided it was time. After visiting another class with a pet bunny Brinley was certain she had to have one :) After trying to earn one on her part and a lot of deliberating on our part, we decided it would actually be a good thing for us right now. Bunnies are lower maintenance, and still a fluffy fun animal to play with. They have been great so far. The kids named them Piper (the white one) and Peter (the grey one).

"Nunnies!" as Marlee calls them.
She LOVES the bunny, and I LOVE her :)

The kids couldn't get enough of their bunnies!
Marlee decided she was small enough to fit in the bunny cage :) I looked over to find her little bum sticking out the back and so I had to run and grab the camera!
We have had only one MAJOR incident since the bunnies arrived. Unfortunately, Peter lost his tail. One day when Casen was trying to catch him he caught him by his tail under the coffee table and when Casen tried to pull him out Petter pushed away with his hind legs (he is super strong!) and then Peter's whole tail popped right off! Brinley came up stairs screaming that Casen had pulled Peter's tail off and ofcourse I am just expecting a chunk of fur, but I came down to find he really had pulled off the entire tail - bone, flesh, and fur! It was so sad. Ofcourse I freaked out and I shouldn't have. I hurried to get all four of us dressed and out the door (Ryan was in San Fransisco). My sweet friend Jess was so kind and watched my kiddos while I took Peter to a Vet out by her house. Apparently bunnies are exotic animals so it was the closest vet even though it was over 30 min away. The vet said we actually got really lucky. Often what happens is a "tail slip" which means the skin and fur is pulled off and a boney fleshy tail remains which they then have to amputate.... gross!!! So glad that's not what happened to us. She said we were lucky because it was a clean break, no damage to the spinal cord, and all that needed to happen was have the hole sewn up. I am glad it went as well as it could have. A few stitches and $149 dollars later we were headed home with a bottle of bunny antibiotics (twice a day for 10 days, not much fun!) But Peter was hoping around immediately and has been doing great ever since. Hopefully we all learned a lot from this experience!

OH MY WORD! What a bunny catastrophe! But I have to say, Peter and Piper are the cutest things ever! And so are your kids, that picture of Marley holding the bunny is too cute for words!
