January Preschool

Last semester I was the last one to teach Casen's preschool, and this semester I was the first. I already had all the stuff and thought it would be nice to get it over with... now I am free until May, yay! :)

January they learned about dinosaurs. The kids had a lot of fun and so did I. Here is a re-cap...

We learned about how dinosaurs lived a long time ago and how archeologists find their bones. The kids each got to pretend like they were an archeologist looking for dinosaur bones using some sand and cut out dino bones :)

We talked about how dinosaurs got their names and how dinosaur means giant lizard. Then they each got to trace their dino name... I think we might start using Casesaurus as a nick name.

One of the first dinosaurs we learned about was the brontosaurus and the kids had fun making their own little headbands.

For MLK Day we talked about diversity. We had a little "fruit salad" for snack and talked about how even though the fruit was all different in taste, size, color, etc, it was all still good.

We pretended we all had a pet dinosaur and talked about what we would want it to be like. Then they all got to make their own "pet" dinosaur. It was pretty cute, I wish I could remember all the names they gave their pets, I was cracking up. Casen's was named "Orange"

After preschool one day Camree got to stay late and Boston got to come over for a couple hours while Collette took Maquade to the doctor. The kids played SO good together and Casen loved having a big boy to play with.

We pretended to move like various dinosaurs, and Marlee thought it looked fun enough to join the girls :)

Dino puzzles, even though I thought these looked so simple, the kids had a surprisingly hard time putting them together!

After 2 weeks of teaching I took a week off while we went to Idaho and then taught one last week.

We went on a little leaf hunt and then the kids lined their leafs up in order from largest to smallest. They actually did pretty good!

The weather was beautiful so Marlee joined us outside and ofcourse needed a snack too.

We talked about volcanoes and lava and then the kids each made their own little diorama.

The final products! They had lots of fun moving their little dinosaurs around in them.

The very last day I taught was actually Feb. 2nd, so it was a new set of curriculum. The theme was " Around the World". It was a fun day and the kids had a good time showing off their items from around the world for Show and Tell.

We pretended two little birds were going on a trip and needed to fill their suitcase with pink and red items from around the room. The kids took turns flying the birds to find items to pack in their suitcase. The poor birds ended up with 2 boosters, 2 backpacks, and a red candle for their trip :)

The we made passports and suitcase so we could travel the world!

My cute little assistant

The shape we were focusing on was the heart, so we had heart shaped pitas with honey for our snack.

For an activity we talked about different ways to travel the world and the kids got to practice tracing lines on their maps.

  1. Oh how fun! How great to have other moms and kids to do this! All the activities look like so much fun!
On a different note...we didn't get the assignment to Vegas. We have no idea where and we'll go. It's alright though.

  2. What a great idea to have shared preschool time. I need to learn from you and try this out with our friends :)
