I landed on Oakland at 1:00 and my sister-in-law picked me up at the airport, so nice! She was so sweet and let me plan our afternoon. This is the view from the Oakland temple, you can actually see the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge!
I really wanted to go to the Oakland temple since I had never been before and since it is hard to make it to the temple with Ryan's busy schedule and 3 little kids! It was great to be there and I was grateful for the Spirit I felt... it helped me relax a little and now worry so much about my kids :)
We went to Fenton's Creamery, a famous icecream parlor that has been open since the late 1800's. It was pretty yummy!
After a little shopping with Anna she helped me get on the "Bart" and take a 40 minute ride into San Fransisco. I then had to walk about a mile to Ryan's school... it was only 7:00 but already dark and just slightly scarey walking by dozens of homeless people. So sad.His school is right on the Bay and has an amazing view of the Bay Bridge. The dinner event was lots of fun and had great food. It was fun to talk to some of the other spouses/partners and to put some more faces with all the names Ryan mentions.
We stayed the night at the Hotel that Ryan's school puts him up in, it is so nice and this is the beautiful view we woke up to.
I headed to school with Ryan in the morning and had a quick delicious breakfast before we headed off to class. One of his classmate's partners stayed and chatted with me for a while and then walked me over to the farmers market...
The Farmers market was amazing! It made me want to live there so I could go all the time... but probably wouldn't have been as relaxing trying to keep 3 kids by my side.
They had so many things besides fresh fruit and veggies... beautiful flowers, jams, herbs, all sorts of bakes goods, etc.
After about an hour Alex and Anna met me there, I was so glad they decided to come into the city and spend the day with me!
Inside the market, right after eating fresh raspberry filled donuts :)
We stayed long enough that we were hungry for lunch... ok I insisted we stay that long cause the food looked AMAZING... AND IT WAS! I just LOVE tamales if they are good, restaurant ones are never any good. But these ones were just what I wanted, SO good, craving them ever since!
Excuse the cheesy pose, haha. We walked a couple miles to this building where Credit Suisse is located. Ryan will be doing his intern here this summer and wanted me to see where he would be working. I walked all the way there in heels (what was I thinking!?) and told Ryan he better be grateful!
Then we headed over to China town, we had fun looking around for a while and then were off to Union Square for more shopping. By the end of the day Anna and my feet were dying from walking so much! She bought us both flip flops from Old Navy to give out feet a rest :) Thanks Anna!
Then we headed to the school and Ryan gave Anna and Alex a tour of the school.
Love this view! This is the room Ryan eats all his meals at (they are all catered) while he is at school. After that we grabbed a yummy dinner with Anna and Alex and then headed to the airport!
The kids had a great time with the Nyes and loved getting to go to Duck Creek with Nate, Jansen, and Natalie!
We returned home to find this angel, and two other angel girls... but he deserved a picture for wearing a beanie to bed! I was so grateful to come home to find my sweeties safe and sound!
That was so much fun! One of these days Alex and I will come to Vegas and visit you.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how not matter where we go, it always feels so good to go home and see your babies again! These are awesome pictures! I want to go to San Francisco!
