Scripture Power!!!

In February the Bishop of our ward challenged us all to read the New Testament before Easter, as a way to remember our Savior and the true meaning of Easter. We decided to take the challenge from our Bishop and wanted to include our children, so we read the children's version of the New Testament as a family. I am so glad we took this opportunity... I was amazed at how well the children listened to the stories of our Savior Jesus Christ, His life, and His ministry here on the earth. Brinley (and Casen a little) would often bring up stories of Jesus that we had read, I was so happy she was actually listening and it made me realize even more how important it is to teach our children of Jesus. We always start our scripture reading by singing the song "Scripture Power"

Both kids love singing the song:

-- Because I want to be like the Savior and I can, I'm reading his instructions I'm following His plan.
Because I was the power His words will give to me, I'm changing how I live, I'm changing who I'll be...
Scripture Power! Keep me safe from sin! Scripture power is the power to win! Scripture power, everyday I need, the power that I get each time I read!

One of Brinley and Casen's first words was "Jesus". They would always point to his pictures at church or in our home. I know that children are especially in tune. We have a little statue of Jesus with a child on his knee and a child at his side... both of our children love the statue and often want to sleep with it. One night we had friends at our house and the kids both wanted the statue, so we put it outside of their rooms in a place where they could both see it from their beds. The next day our friend asked Brinley why she wanted the Jesus statue outside her door, Brinley said " Because I know He loves me, and He watches over me." I am so grateful for her testimony of our Savior and her love for Him.

As a reward for reading scriptures everynight and finishing the New Testament before Easter, we decided to take the kids bowling. They were so excited and had a lot of fun! :)

Casen always insists on carrying the huge bowling balls by himself! It would be like me bowling with a 25 lb bowling ball!!

Brinley's determined face!

Marlee slept through it all... but she slept through reading scriptures too so it was kinda appropriate!

Wish I could of caught her in the air but the lighting was bad so the camera took the pictures slow... I still loved seeing how excited she was!

At one point Brinley, Ryan and I were all tied... but Brinley ended up beating me in the end :)

Poor Casen lost :( But despite the picture he still had fun!
